(1994 was the first vintage for this wine and it comes from a mix of 20 and 50 year old vines). Difficult as it was to believe, the 2001 Truffieres is finer and purer still with simply exquisite white fruit and citrus aromas that lead to flavors that are equally suffused with an intense mineral stoniness. Initially, there is a touch of oak char but this quickly dissipates and the overall effect is mildly akin to rolling rocks around in your mouth yet there is no hardness and the acidity, while prominent, is by no means aggressive. Really a beautiful wine with elegance, lovely balance and outstanding length.
